Infrastructure of the internet — seeing through the cloud

A workshop written for Animation and Coding for the Web students at the London College of Communication.

In this workshop students learn about geography of the internet, its physicality and the forces that shape where and how networks connect to one another. They learn to see the web not as an ephemeral non-place, but as a vast industry with high environmental impact.

During group activities the students research key historical places, inspect network requests and learn how to determine the ownership and location of each part of the route.
