A couple of pals and I took a day off on Friday to meet in Beckhenam Park. When we agreed to cycle there I didn’t even look up how far it was, and it turned out much farther than I thought, ~2 hours each way. Even though I haven’t cycled that much in well over a year I haven’t experienced any muscle soreness or anything the next day. My body seems to naturally respond really well to endurance type activities.
I have been thinking a lot about Bo Burnham’s masterpiece, Inside. He’s been playing instruments and writing comedy songs for years, so when the pandemic hit and gave him the gift of time he spent it on imagining what’s creatively possible to carve out of boredom and isolation. It’s incredible what a single person can achieve with time, equipment, and existing skills. I can’t imagine how he’ll ever be able to do something as pure as that. We’re already planning to watch it again.
One of his songs, Problematic, is a better ’80s track than many actual ’80s tracks.
So of course now I’m on a mission to recreate this effect in Blender. So far I’ve been able to apply a material someone else made to simple objects. My laptop is so slow that I had to leave this image to render overnight.
